‘The Future of Film is Female’ Aims to Diversify the Big Screen

The Future of Film Is Female (FOIF) is a non-profit organization dedicated to amplifying the voices of female and non-binary filmmakers, with a particular emphasis on short film (the Nitehawk’s short film festival is a key part of its annual programming) and finding space for both features and shorts on the big screen, founded in 2018 by Caryn Coleman, formerly the director of programming at Brooklyn’s Nitehawk Cinema. Coleman talks to Boxoffice Pro in this week’s episode of the Boxoffice Podcast about the necessity for programmers to go outside the box in order to achieve greater diversity.
